Who we are
Operation 8647 is an independent project by a private citizen. It is not affiliated with, paid for, or coordinated with any candidate, party, or campaign. The site carries no advertising and sets no tracking cookies.
We have a point of view: we believe voters should hold this administration accountable in November. That is exactly why we hold ourselves to strict sourcing. Every factual claim on this site links to the reporting or record it comes from, so you can check it yourself.
Where our information comes from
We cite only established news organizations and primary records:
- News organizations: NPR, PBS NewsHour, NBC News, CNN, CNBC, ProPublica, The Washington Post, The Guardian, and BBC News.
- Government and court records: the Government Accountability Office, the Congressional Budget Office, inspectors general, congressional reports, financial disclosures, and court rulings.
- Research: nonpartisan survey and policy research, such as Pew Research Center and the Brookings Institution.
We do not cite partisan blogs, newsletters, social media posts, or anonymous accounts that a news organization has not independently reported.
How we write claims
- Findings are stated as findings. Court rulings, official reports, and a person's own words are presented as fact.
- Allegations are attributed. When a claim rests on reporting, we name who reported it (for example, "NPR reported…"), and we note denials when the source reports them.
- Numbers are conservative. When sources disagree, we use the lower figure or a range and label estimates as estimates.
- Public figures only. We cover public officials, appointees, and the Trump family's public business dealings, never private individuals.
The live news feed
The headlines on our home page are gathered automatically from the public news feeds of NPR, PBS NewsHour, NBC News, The Guardian, BBC News, and ProPublica, and refreshed every 30 minutes. The feed is selective: it highlights reporting on the administration's legal setbacks, controversies, and the effects of its policies, and it leaves out opinion columns. We do not write or edit the headlines. Each one links to the original article, so you can read the full story in context.
How the site is updated
We use AI tools to help monitor the news and draft updates. Nothing is published automatically: a person reviews every proposed change and checks each claim against its cited source before it goes live. Each page shows the date it was last reviewed.
Corrections
If we get something wrong, we fix it promptly and note the correction with its date. If you spot an error or a broken link, please tell us: corrections@operation8647.com.
